RADIO-TAXIS ASSOCIATION OF MAZARRON - LEGAL INFO

1 – WHO ARE THEY?

We are the taxis who have the right to work throughout the municipality of Mazarrón, whilst complying with current regulations required by law. The Mazarrón Association of radio-taxis operates 24 hours, uses a GPS system, a switchboard with Spanish and non-Spanish operators, and offers its service to citizens of all nationalities.

2 - HOW TO IDENTIFY A TAXI?

Taxis under the ordinances have to be white, have the coat of arms of the municipality on the front doors, hold the license number, have a green light on the right side of the roof and have a plate "S.P. (Public Service) " next to the registration plates.

3 – WHAT IS THE LICENCE NUMBER?

It is the permission granted by Mazarrón’s Town Hall, through the Murcia Transport Concierge to authorize the transport of people in this town.

4 - HOW TO OBTAIN THE LICENSE?

You must be resident in Mazarrón, and be registered. You must be self employed, have the license BTP (fire, police and taxi) and you must have a vehicle that complies with paragraph 1.

A license is required from the Town Hall by contest, by grant or by the waiting list of the council. There is no municipality in Spain that grants new transport licenses for mini-cabs or taxis with more than 5 seats.

5 - ILLEGAL TAXIS

Any vehicle that does not meet the conditions explained above "IS NOT A TAXI", and can be checked by requiring the licensing of transport. If they do not have a license, call emergency 112, or 807505770 to collaborate with the Town Hall, local police and taxi drivers from the Association of Mazarrón. Fines for drivers range from 450 to 1,500 Euros, customers will be held in police stations and will not be able to continue the trip in that car with that driver.

6 - WHAT ARE THE OBLIGATIONS OF THE TAXI DRIVER?

The vehicle must have insurance with unlimited liability, pay for a taxi rank and an anual MOT.

7 - WHY IS THERE AN ASSOCIATION OF RADIO-TAXIS?

To give a faster and 24 hour service to all citizens of the municipality. The scope of Mazarrón taxis service is limited to only the area of the Municipality, not being able to pick up passengers from other areas or partnerships if they have not been previously booked by telephone with the PBX.

8 - HOW DOES THE SERVICE OF RADIO-TAXIS WORK?

1 - When calling from Camposol, you must specify the sector letter, the number of the sector, the street, the street number, time of pick up and destination. *Please visit the Camposol map at T-linea web site to check the correct address to give them, in order to avoid time consuming phone calls and delays due to not being able to find you.

When calling any of these numbers 968 590 676 as 807 505 770, the computer of the PBX receives the call, finds the nearest taxi and sends him to you.

2 - The time response of the arrival of the taxi varies according to distance and traffic and can be from 10 to 15 mins.

3 - Once the booking is received by the taxi, the ‘occupied’ flag is lowered and the meter is put into operation, according to the official urban and interurban fares.

The meter, which displays the price to the public, is a device approved and sealed to prevent tampering; which is considered to be a very serious offence resulting in the expulsion of the driver who has manipulated it.
